June 2017

We are delighted and proud to say we are the first Nursery in Burnley to have been awarded “Millie’s Mark”

This a Quality Mark for nurseries where all employees working directly with children are trained in paediatric First Aid.

This has been awarded by the National Day Nurseries Association in association with the Department for Education and Millie’s Trust

New Era Nursery is the first nursery in Burnley to be awarded the Millie’s Mark Award, which recognises nurseries who have gone above and beyond the requirements to keep children safe within the setting and where all members of staff are paediatric first aid trained.

Parents, staff and children celebrated the occasion in nursery with cake and balloons after the presentation of the award by Mrs Catherine Greenwood, Headteacher at St Peter’s Primary School in Burnley.

In April 2017   We were Working towards………

It’s April and another term and we’ve submitted our portfolio to  Millie’s Mark   This is a gold standard for organisations to be accredited against a set of stringent standards. For example, it requires all staff working directly with children to have an up-to-date paediatric first aid certificate.   All our staff and volunteers are First Aid trained.

Millie’s Trust is a charity that was created by the parents of Millie Thompson who tragically passed away in a choking incident in October 2012.

It’s Official – We are GOOD!!

New Era Nursery was inspected by OFSTED in January and was judged to be ‘Good’ in all areas.

Nursery Manager Lisa and the Nursery staff have all worked incredibly hard over the last few months to review, develop and improve all aspects of the setting.  New Era is delighted that all this hard work has been recognised. Read more about what the Inspector said by clicking HERE
